Smailholm Mains Farm Cottages are situated 6 miles from the borders market town of Kelso on the Scottish side of the border. It is a traditional working farm set in hundreds of acres of rolling Roxboroughshire countryside, offering a wonderful mix of peace and tranquility combined with a wide range of available outdoor activities.
The cottages are within a short distance of many historic buildings, Abbey's, Ruins, Roman remains and other ancient historic monuments. The area has a concentration of castles, towers and other ruins due to the constant fighting between the English and Scots.
One such monument is on the property - Smailholm Peel Tower sits atop of the nearby Lady Hill, a mile or so from the Holiday Cottages. The tower originates from the 15th or 16th Century and was inhabited until around 1700. Restored to it's former glory in the 1980's by Historic Scotland it is now listed as a 5 star tourist attraction with panoramic views over the Scottish Border.
The Smailholm Farm Holiday Cottages are a short car journey from the airports and railways stations of Newcastle or Edinburgh.
