This former school and schoolhouse was tastefully converted into a spacious family home in 2005. The school was built around 1860 and ran from 1864 to 1967. It became a community hall, then a garage/storage space for subsequent owners of the house until we bought the house in 2003.
We are sure that when you arrive at this most welcoming of borders holiday cottages that you will agree that the building is perfect for a restful night.
Auchencrow is a peaceful village situated close to the Lammermuir Hills and 10 minutes' drive from the nearest beach, thus providing an ideal situation for walking, picnics, and surfing as well as the usual country activities of horse riding, golf, shooting and fishing. Nearby there is a 4x4 driving school, a farm trail, indoor soft play area and many historical places of interest to visit.

There is also a great traditional village pub selling real ales and serving food a short walk from the house. A farm shop is located on the outskirts of the village, where you can purchase locally produced meat, fruit, vegetables and other daily supplies.
The village has a fascinating history associated with witches and there is a witch's stone at the bottom of the village with a plaque. Perhaps you might come across one or two of these scary characters during your stay with us!

In addition to providing excellent facilities, The Old School House charges very competitive rates. Prices range from £200 for a night stay to £1300 if you are with us for the week. Prices depend on the time of year. Please note that there is a 20% deposit of the rental price when booking with us. You are welcome to bring your pet o pets with you, and there is a charge of £30 for doing so.
Also, if you have stayed with us in the past, we can offer you a reduced rate.
