Cossar Hill Farm offer guests a choice of two 4-star cottages in the tranquil, unspoilt Ettrick Valley in the Scottish Borders. These two cottages, Crook cottage and Elspinhope, are situated 2 miles apart in total isolation, making it perfect for those looking for the ultimate in relaxation.
Elspinhope is a detached property built in 1999. Its style is traditional, with white roughcast walls and slated roof. It has its own large parking area, garden and 3-acre grounds with woodland displaying a range of wild flowers, orchids and rare butterflies. This beautiful cottage offers exceptional views of the surrounding countryside, and overlooks the Cossarhill burn, where guests can relax on the seats by the rocky pools and enjoy the natural waterfall.
Elspinhope Sleeps 5 and there is a cot available on request. The cottage has been designed for assisted wheelchair access. All of the rooms are tastefully decorated, with high quality beds and bed wear and are supplied with a clock radio. The twin bedroom has its own en-suite shower room and toilet. The double bedroom is fitted with a vanity unit. Both of these rooms are fitted with shaver sockets. The third bedroom has a single bed.
The bathroom comprises of an electric shower over the bath, toilet and shaver socket and is fitted with a vanity unit. Guests can hire towels on request. The cottage has a fitted kitchen, with all modern appliances including dishwasher, ceramic electric cooker, large fridge/freezer and microwave. Their large sitting and dining room area has colour TV, with digital TV, video and CD/radio/cassette player. The dining area has some lovely sliding French windows that open out onto the garden area displaying some breathtaking views.
The Holiday Cottage is double glazed throughout and has full central heating. The living room features a cast iron stove, with flame effect so that guests can enjoy the feel and atmosphere of a real open fire, without the work and mess involved with lighting a real one. There is also a free wireless broadband connection. The electricity is paid for at the end of your stay, and is charged at the going rate. The first £10 is not charged. Smoking and pets are not permitted inside Elspinhope, but kennels and runs are available.
Crook Cottage is a former shepherd’s authentic borders cottage, dating back to the 19th Century. The property sleeps 6, with a cot and highchair available on request. Their double bedroom comprises of king size bed clock radio and Television. Upstairs, both twin bedrooms have pine furnishings and one is supplied with child’s bed/cot.
Crook Cottage also has a fully fitted kitchen, with all modern appliances. The cottage is double glazed throughout and each room is heated at night by storage heaters and additional halogen heaters.
The cottage also has a large stone fireplace with inset multi-fuel cast iron stove. Fuel is provided. Electricity is charged at the end of the stay at the going rate, with the first £10 not being charged.
Dogs are welcome by arrangement, under strict control indoor and outside. Dogs are charged at £14 per week.
Prices range from £225 to £525 per week, depending on time of stay.
